Yvonne Jones wins yet another battle – though her party loses the election

Yvonne Jones has been re-elected in the Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair district by a wide margin.
Jones captured 1,516 votes, far ahead of PC Glen Acreman with 571 votes and NDP candidate Bill Cooper who gathered 44 votes.
Jones is the former Liberal leader of the Opposition and had to step down as she recovered from breast cancer.
The district of Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair, located in southern Labrador, has a population of 4,713 spread throughout several coastal communities.
Bill Cooper, the NDP candidate for Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair, could not be reached. However, a representative from the NDP headquarters was able to answer a few questions. Cooper has been a long term supporter of the NDP party and threw his hat into the ring to give the people of his riding a chance to vote NDP. He is a retired teacher and currently lives in the district of Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair.
The PC candidate for the Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair was Glen Acreman. Acreman was unavailable to answer any questions.
